style="text-align: justify;">The correct combination of furniture, wall paintings, art objects and extra decorative items is essential when it comes to the room we spend most of our lives in: the bedroom. Therefore, bedroom feng shui applications provide us with the tools necessary to create a place where the stress of work and the problems of the day are left out. Romance, good night rest and great relaxation, this is what bedroom feng shui aims at in terms of immediate accomplishments. In order to understand the importance of harmonious arrangements, simply think of how depressing and unwelcoming, an untidy, dark bedroom looks like.

Start applying the bedroom feng shui rules from the doorway. Don’t place any item of furniture behind the door as it may prevent its opening course; when the door opens, it needs to make a 90 degree-angle at least. Anything below this value is restrictive and considered to limit the opportunities that may appear in your life. Some feng shui practitioners also suggest that you place some nice object to lay eyes one just as you enter the bedroom: this could be a painting, a picture, an interesting piece of furniture, or anything else that causes a positive response.

For decorating the bedroom feng shui art stresses only the use of relaxing colors with the particular avoidance of reds and golds. Then, the placement of the bed is also dictated by some very serious considerations: thus, when in bed, you need to feel comfortable but in command at the same time. This can be achieved by placing the bed in such a way so that you may see the door; however, avoid the alignment of your feet with the door, since this is the ancient Chinese “death position”. Then, another rule says there should be no sharp corners facing you in the bedroom, feng shui calls such situations “poison arrows”.

“Avoid clutter” is another bedroom feng shui command. It is preferable that you don’t bring work things in the bedroom such as books, documents or even the computer. The presence of too many objects cluttered in wardrobe or drawers tends to overcloud your thinking, preventing you from being organized in other life sectors. If you feel depressed or lethargic in the morning, have a look around and see what it is that bothers you in the bedroom. Feng shui could then provide you much more easily with a solution, if you also use your personal sensitivity to identify the source of disharmony.
<p

Doorways and entrances to anything should feel welcoming. They should be clear and the pathway should allow ease of movement.

The Chi, (or energy flow), should never be made stagnant at this point. Pictures and ornamental decorations in this area should be pleasing and round leafed plants in pots attract prosperity into the home. Another tip to remember is that if you have doorways from front to back that are visible, the flowing of energy should be stopped from escape.

A Feng Shui cure for this problem, can be by placing a plant as suggested to the side of the entry: thus creating an environment to capture the Chi flow. The essence of creating good flow and attracting harmony, involves placement.

Feng Shui recognizes that small problems can have a major effect on your life, and that a well kept home will always have better chi than one where maintenance tasks have been allowed to pile up. The minor problems and inconveniences that plague a poorly maintained home can restrict your freedom of movement, cloud your ability to understand a situation, make it difficult to take advantage of opportunities, and waste your resources.

Think of Chi as an important guest you wish to welcome to your home, and make your formal entry – and the access to it from the street – as inviting as possible.

The principles of Feng Shui can be applied to your garden as well. By applying Feng Shui principles to your garden you can attract positive energy, wealth and good fortune. Given below are a few tips and ideas on how to Feng Shui your garden.

The most important principles of Feng Shui in the garden are curves and proportion. Your house is the Yin energy and your garden is the Yang energy. The Yang aspect in Feng Shui is about light and space. Try to incorporate all the five elements of Feng Shui in your garden as much as possible. A garden should have “living spaces” that provide a haven for friends and family to relax and enjoy the sunshine and gentle breeze.

Trees or large shrubs will provide privacy and protection at the back of the garden.

Balance is created by mixing different sizes, shapes and colors of plants so that no one species is overwhelmed by another.

» Use a pond, birdbath or fountain to represent the water element.
» Use a sundial or bronze statue in the garden for metal.
» Use trees and shrubs for wood.
» Use plants or flowers that are red and orange in color to represent fire.
» Use earth to represent the earth element.

Water features such as pools, ponds and fountains are beautiful and encourage beneficial chi. They also symbolize prosperity and create yin (feminine) energy.

You can create more Yang (masculine) energy by using garden lights to add light to the garden’s dark areas. Remember balance and harmony is the key to a Feng Shui Garden.

About the Author

Kathy Tyson is the author of this article and owner of The Home and Garden Decor Site: <a

Plants and fresh flowers give the house a fresh and lively atmosphere and according to feng shui expert Manish Potdar, all plants have a positive effect on life

Although we may live in the city and are always trying to improve our homes, we can enjoy the countryside within our city homes and here are a few examples :

In Feng Shui artificial plants do share those same qualities, outcomes and significances of real plants and flowers.

Placing some green colour ornaments such as flowers, floor mats or some indoor plants, at the east end of your dining room, living room, balcony, entrance hall or even the kitchen; promotes both growth and prosperity in life. However, this is definitely NOT the case with the bedroom.

Although you can have as many plants as you like for your home decoration, you should pick only those where the leaves or stalks are not pointed or needle shape. These sharp pointed leaves (like pines or cactus) are not favorable when used in your homes.

If you are the mother, wife, or daughter of the home why not try some flowers in a beautiful vase positioned in the southwest end of the house or in a southwest crook of the living room which will not only promote the loving family atmosphere but also help to create a stable happy married life environment.

It is also believed by the Chinese that you should not have dried flowers in your house as dried flowers are dead flowers which can be translated as your wealth “dying”. However, it is perfectly acceptable to have artificial flowers.

Also, clear away clutter in your garden or yard by trimming those overgrown plants and getting rid of any cut down vegetation or cut down trees. A really helpful side benefit of this can be a vase filled with trimmings such as cherry or apple blossom branches which would be a beautiful enrichment to your living environment.

I have found the following table most useful:

Flower / Plant

Feng Shui attributes

Rose

Will bring good fortune and promote love within the family.

Anthuriums

Bring good luck in your relationships.

Chrysanthemums

Bring happiness, harmony and laughter into your home.

Lilies

Are symbols of abundance and are considered to be one of the eight treasures.

Bamboo

Youth, Perseverance and good luck.

Peony

Represent longevity in a relationship.

Jasmine and Gardenia

Are the plants of friendship

<p
